Frequently asked questions
The most common questions we get from our clients
Exfoliate 24 hours prior to your spray with a exfoliate hand mitt, loofah or wash rag if you do not have a mitt- Heavy exfoliating scrubs can leave a barrier, it is recommended not to use those products before the spray tan. Shaving, waxing, manicures and or pedicures should be completed one day prior to a spray tan. Avoid any lotions, oils and perfumes after showering.
Sunless tanning is always best when keeping skin moisturized daily after a spray- sunless tan-extending products with a light bronzer, are great for prolonging your spray tan.
When used as recommended, airbrush tanning products are formulated to give a natural, just off the beach color.
High pH levels in the skin can sometimes give individuals an undesirable, ‘fake’ non-natural looking sunless color. Airbrush application on skin that is out of balance due to high pH levels sometimes results in what many people refer to as an ‘orange’ coloring.
To prevent this from happening, there are a few things you can do:
Please do not use bar soaps before your tanning session. A properly pH balanced skin cleanser will not elevate pH levels on the skin, and result in more ‘golden brown’ airbrush tanning results.
I will be applying a pH Balancing Spray prior to spray tan. This product is formulated to lower the pH levels of the skin giving a more golden brown color, and maximizing your sunless results.
DHA is an acronym for Dihydroxyacetone.
DHA is the active ingredient found in all sunless tanning products. It is a simple carbohydrate that is primarily used as an ingredient in sunless tanning products. It is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, and by the fermentation of glycerin. DHA does not make your skin cells darker in pigmentation, but rather reacts with the proteins and amino acids found in the top layer of your skin to create a darkening effect or ‘sunless tan’.
During the tan, you can wear as little or as much as YOU are comfortable with. If you do wear anything during the tan, it will wash out of your clothes in the laundry. Bring loose fitting clothes to wear after your tan. Loose pants, oversized top, Loose dress, loose bra (or no bra), anything that will let your skin breathe and your tan set.
5-10 days depending on how your skin naturally exfoliates and how well you care for the tan. Moisturize (after you have rinsed off your top coat) and staying hydrated will always help maintain your spray tan.
